APS DPP Annual Meeting

66th Annual Meeting of the APS Division of Plasma Physics

October 7-11, 2024 • Atlanta, Georgia USA

Attendees of any APS in-person or virtual events are expected to meet standards of professional conduct as described in the APS Code of Conduct. Violations of these standards may disqualify people from future participation.

Call for Abstract Submission

Opened: Monday, May 6, 2024
Deadline: Monday, July 1, 2024 at 5:00pm Eastern Time

Thank you for your interest in the DPP annual meeting.

The first author is the primary presenting author and is taken as a representation that he/she is expected to participate in the meeting and present the abstract. APS members may submit a contributed abstract for which a non-member is listed as first author and in this case the non-member is expected to attend and present the abstract. Please see below for special notes on the undergraduate and high school session, early career scientists, and other sorting category notes.

The DPP annual meeting has a strong tradition of poster presentations and the shifts in recent years to a larger proportion of contributed oral presentations present challenges in scheduling the hybrid meeting. For these reasons presenters are encouraged to consider submission of their contributed abstracts as posters. Presenters are limited to one technical oral presentation at the DPP annual meeting (including invited, oral contributed, and mini-conference oral presentations).

Multiple Abstract Submissions

  • An invited speaker may be allowed one additional poster abstract submission.
  • presenter who submits a technical abstract in a mini-conference is allowed one additional contributed abstract in a regular session, subject to the limit of one total technical oral per person (i.e. a mini-conference oral presenter may submit a regular session poster; a mini conference poster presenter may submit a regular session oral or poster).
  • A presenter who submits an education, engagement and DEIA abstract is allowed one additional abstract submission in a regular session (these talks do not count towards the limit of one technical oral abstract).
  • A presenter can submit one oral contributed abstract and one poster presentation assigned to a regular session. Any additional abstract submissions by the same presenter will be assigned to the Supplemental Poster Session on Friday morning.

Undergraduate or High School Students Doing Research

We encourage undergraduate and high school students to consider submitting to category 10 (see detail below under sorting categories) to be placed in an afternoon poster session, “Undergraduate/High School Research” on Monday, October 7. For the twenty-first year, DPP will present an outstanding poster award to a number of undergraduate students. This poster session provides an opportunity for undergrads to present results from summer and thesis research, as well as to meet other plasma physicists, such as early career, senior researchers, and other students. Undergraduate or high school students should submit their abstracts as contributed posters following the abstract submission procedure as outlined above. To present in the Tuesday afternoon poster session please select either Sorting Category 10.01 (High-school research) or 10.02 (Undergraduate research).
